Every week Merlin is forced to use some old-fashioned brainpower to save his skin and keep Arthur safe, all the while letting him think he's still the hero! With every episode, though, we're moving fast toward the Arthurian legend known to all - which gives the series a real gravitas and sense of fate and prophecy.

In this third series, old friends shift allegiances and plot to take over Camelot, while Arthur is unwilling to see the danger that lurks right in front of him. Will Merlin be able to stop these dastardly plans, all the while keeping his magical abilities hidden?

Merlin is a show in a similar vein to Doctor Who - it's 'three generation TV' for the entire family to enjoy together. At times it's mildly frightening, and at times it's silly and playful - but for the most part a careful balance is struck between these two extremes, ensuring that the show has a little something for everyone. It's not life changing stuff, but it is remarkably enjoyable, a guilty-pleasure for the adults and a real treat for the kids.

This complete season three box set takes us ever closer to the King Arthur of legend, and leaves us with Camelot about to change forever - the perfect way to catch up on this excellent family fun.
