Described by its creator Victoria Pile as a "a sketch-meets-comedy-drama-meets-soap", Green Wing follows new surgical registrar Dr Caroline Todd (Tamsin Greig) as she becomes acquainted with her eccentric and dysfunctional colleagues at the East Hampton Hospital Trust.

Her new co-workers include kinky Dr. Alan Statham (Mark Heap) and his “secret” love interest the bitter, age-obsessed Joanna Clore (Pippa Heywood); the irritatingly perfect senior registrar Dr. Angela Hunter (Sarah Alexander) and hapless house officer Martin Dear (Karl Theobold).

Indecisive Caroline soon develops feelings for both Dr Guy Secretan (Stephen Mangan), the womanising anaesthetist and inventor of “guyball” and Dr Mac Macartney (Julian Rhind-Tutt) the popular, charming surgeon. Unfortunately the staff liaison officer Sue White (Michelle Gomez), a cruel, foul-mouthed, sociopath with a penchant for dressing like a squirrel, is obsessed with Mac and will think nothing of trying to murder a potential love rival.

As a hospital based sitcom, Green Wing is naturally considered the British equivalent of popular American series Scrubs but it avoids the medical storylines and wholesome moral lessons that underpin Scrubs, and it contains far more surreal sketches and weird sequences, that often involve the film being slowed down or sped up for emphasis.

Fans of BAFTA winning Smack the Pony, Spaced and Black Books will love this box set which contains both series of this refreshingly inventive and offbeat comedy as well as the 90 minute special and plenty of extras.
