Family Guy returns for its ninth season in this box set containing all the episodes and much more. For a show that Fox tried to cancel two or three times before it even completed its third season run, a ninth season is pretty good going.

Much of Family Guy's resilient success comes from a loyal fan base who fell in love with the clueless and offensive Peter Griffin and his highly unusual family through DVD releases. Whilst for many the show is either too similar to The Simpsons, or the humour a little too far on the cruder side of comedy, for the fans the willingness to push boundaries, and set no limits in terms of what is ripe for comedy, is exactly what makes it appealing. 

Those fans are sure to love this season, which continues in much the same vein as previous outings. Stand-outs storylines include the unlikely double act of maniacal infant Stewie and the laconic talking dog Brian continuing their bizarre and hilarious relationship in Road to the Multiverse, Louis working on Fox News, and Peter undergoing regression to a past life. There's also a bundle of extras, including extended scenes deemed too close to the bone for TV (which you know must be bad if Family Guy deemed them too close to the bone!) and cast and crew commentaries.
